Staying Active in the Colder Months

For a lot of people, its super easy to become less active and healthy in the colder months. This is for reasons such as; it’s harder to get up for that morning run, you crave those warm comfort foods, and the idea of getting comfy on the sofa is much more attractive than heading out to the gym.

Here’s some of our favourite tips for staying active as the weather gets colder!

Learn to enjoy going for a walk

Walking outside is great for both our physical and mental health. Starting the day with an outdoor walk, even if it’s only for 10 minutes helps us to feel better motivated for the day ahead. So, wrap up warm and enjoy the outdoors, don’t let the cold weather stop you!

At-home workout

I’m sure you’ve tried either an at-home workout or a zoom class during this year at some point! And if you enjoyed those, it would be a perfect way for you to keep moving without leaving the house. You can find some great videos on YouTube, different fitness apps, or personal trainers/fitness fanatics often post workout ideas on their social media pages.

Add supplements into your diet!

Despite our Turmeric supplements being a great immune booster as we enter in to cold and flu season, Turmeric is also a great choice for people who are active. It helps with muscle repair and growth and being an anti-inflammatory, it also helps with joint and muscle health. Super great for losing weight, gaining muscle and minimising the risk of any damage!

Embrace the cold

Enjoy the colder months by really getting into the season! Maybe try some winter sports or winter activities to keep you active? You could try ice skating, snow boarding or skiing. You could make it a fun activity to do with friends or family, you probably won’t even notice you’re exercising!

Morning stretches

We often find ourselves sitting still more often in the colder months. You might be working at a desk all day and come home to watching tv on the sofa all evening. It’s important to keep your body refreshed and keep it from stiffening up. A morning stretch is a great way to start or taking an online yoga class would be even more beneficial!
